You Know They Say "Never Say Never..."

Well I can say never...just this once.
I can say that I never can look at a person and say, "gosh they're ugly." See, I may view some objects as "ugly" but I could never see "ugly" in the presence of a human being. I seem to be good at finding the beauty in people. However, when I say beauty...there's so many different perspectives riding on that one word.

I'm not as into external beauty like you probably assumed I was. I mean, of course I quite obviously care about my external "beauty" (some may even argue it's vanity), but I don't judge others in that way. The only time I ever create preconceived thoughts about a human being because of the way they look, is when I believe that they're exceptionally pretty or something to that effect. (And then I make it a point to tell them that. Everyone likes a confidence boost right?) I've come to find that the whole external beauty ordeal doesn't last, you know? Eventually you start to discover the interior of that person.

Do you ever think about why judging people by their looks has become a norm in our society? I was truly thinking deeply about this today. Here was my internal conversation with myself as I was walking into school today:
"How does being a certain race make someone any less of a person? How does dressing nice make someone any better?"
To be honest with you, I realized that the answer is:
it actually doesn't.

So I can definitely and honestly say, I have never found a human being whom I have deemed as ugly. They may be unattractive in YOUR terms, but to me...they're just another human being who has feelings and likes to be loved and cared about.

The End.

Love,
Morena

P.S. Speaking of beauty...

Is that not the most beautiful scene to look at?
I guess it was from a Philadelphia flower show. And you all know my obsession with flowers.

Oh and also, you remember my friend Emma? She gave me the nickname Daisy because she said it matched my personality perfectly. It's actually catching on. I love that name...Daisy.

What a nice post. Reminds me of a quote: "Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it"--author unknown. It's great that you can see it in people. That's a beautiful trait to have.

I admire your ability to transmit so much feeling in your words. I don't know if it is a skill or a talent, but you should take advantage of this in the future. You have the power to make people question their lifestyles and ideas.
I agree with you...there are no ugly people!

Thank you for finding me again, hon! :):**

That's a really beautiful post, dear!
I'm always trying not to 'judge the book by its cover':) And I believe everyone has something beautiful in them:)

Lovely post, as usual. :)
And it's true--we get so caught up in outer beauty, it screws up our perception of what is real. People can't help what God (and their parents) gave them. It's who they are as a person that counts.
And every person deserves to be treated like they're beautiful.

There are ugly people. It's true.. there are fugly people that exist and thats life. Natural beauty is definately not for everyone. And I'm not talking about what the media calls beautiful.

They may have beautiful personalities but thats a whole entire thing to discuss. Personality and Beauty are different, and not everyone has both. Some don't even have one.

To answer your questions..

"How does being a certain race make someone any less of a person? "
It doesn't. You know that, I know that, moving on..

"How does dressing nice make someone any better?"
It doesn't make them a better person. But it makes them look better on the outside and that counts to some extent.

you're so right about how some of us may deem someone ugly, but really in reality how can we? everyone's perception is different, and who are we to judge about what is truly beautiful, and what is ugly?

sometimes i find myself questioning why people choose to present themselves certain ways (manner of dress, posture, etc), but i do try to refrain from judging someone ugly as well. ugly is as ugly does i think.

This IS a great scene indeed !
It's warm and cosy and still stylish enough for this kind of place....
It looks also like it's partly outdoors ...

Thanks for checking out my blog...this time it was just stories but many times I like to entertain with some pics too...

Very thought-provoking post, darling! It reminds me of the whole "should she get a makeover?" hype surrounding Susan Boyle... For most people, it was not enough that she had an amazing voice, she had to "look" the part too.

I agree that there is beauty in everyone. When we et to know people we start to think they are beautiful because they are themselves.

Oh goodness, such a big issue to tackle! I have to admit, I've most definitely had my share of moments where I've let my stupid societal conditioning get the best of me. I know that human nature can be exclusionary (among other things), but it's never an excuse to place negative importance on things that don't matter (like how somebody looks rather than how they behave.) It's funny -- when I dwell on thinking about how someone else looks, I'm the one who ends up feeling ugly.

I love the name Daisy too!! http://prettygreentea.blogspot.com/
Her name's Daisy and I love her blog.
I think it's for someone to think someone else is ugly. That's THEIR opinion, it's fine for me. Someone can get called ugly by everyone they meet but if they, THEMSELVES, think that they're beautiful.. well, that's all that matters. Who care is Person XYZ thinks that they're ugly? It shouldn't really matter.
